Evil Tidy

In this exercise I strived to draw from the obsession of tidiness that sweeps 2019, channeling Kusama’s repetitive techniques. In particular, I imagine how a kid would react to being told hundreds of hundreds of times to tidy up his room, channeling this boring and repetitive pattern in child-like pastel drawings that evoke youthful energy, playfulness, but ultimately equating tidying with a force of evil.

"Twelve Prozac For Life?"

"Twelve Prozac For Life?" comments on the contemporary growing emphasis on how to have a "life well lived" ranging from self-help books to pharmacological treatments. Every self-help book is considered an 'outlier' for the people who feel that it strikes a chord with them, and this contrasts with the mass-production of a drug like Prozac. The self-help guru's advice feels 'special' in a way that Prozac does not. Yet with time, the advice wears off and feels less special, and effect similarly observed with anti-depressants.
